We love a good DIY recipe that’s cheap and easy, especially if we already have it in our homes. Using old, used grounds helps your wallet + the planet, but fresh grounds work just as well.

* PRO TIPS:

  • If using USED coffee grounds, they may still be a little damp from the brew they just made, so go a little easier on the oil, since they are already moist.
  • Store any left-overs in an air-tight container, good for a few days afterwards.
  • Make in bulk and give as sweet lil’ gifts in 8oz mason jars

Here are a couple different coffee scrub recipes to tickle your fancy! Try ’em out and see which is your fav!


Coconut + Tea Tree Oil

  • Combine a 2:3 ratio of coconut oil to coffee grounds
  • Add a few drops of tea tree oil — just be cautious around your gorgeous, kind eyeballs.

Olive Oil

  • Combine a 2:3 ratio of oil to grounds

Cacao Powder

  • 1 part cacao powder
  • 2-3 parts oil of choice
  • 1 part coffee grounds

Cacao benefits for skin:

  • Anti-aging properties
  • Can prevent sun damage
  • Repairs skin cells

Brown sugar + Cinnamon

  • 1 part brown sugar
  • 1 part coffee grounds
  • 2-3 parts oil of choice
  • a dash or two of cinnamon — careful with the eyes

Cinnamon benefits for skin:

  • Helps with excessively oily skin
  • Can clear up acne
  • Naturally fights skin infections
  • Increases blood flow to the surface of the skin, giving you GLOWING skin, darling.
  • It’s antiproliferative properties removes dead skin cells, acting as a natural, not-too-harsh exfoliant.

Oatmeal + Sugar

  • 1 part oats
  • 1 part coffee grounds
  • 1 part sugar (any kind will do)
  • 2-4 parts oil of choice
  • (Honey optional)
