When is the last time you pursued something you’re passionate about? When is the last time you followed a dream, even when just thinking about doing so scares you? Our health and wellness are directly connected to the quality of our lives, and feeling inspired can give us a much-needed boost.
This year I decided to go back to school. Since about 2010 I’ve wanted to enroll in Ayurveda college, but between raising humans, running a business, and having little free time, that dream was put on the back burner. Until now.
The sister science to yoga, Ayurveda is the oldest form of medicine, predating even Traditional Chinese Medicine. I started practicing Ayurveda back in 2006, working with an Ayurvedic doctor who helped me even out the imbalances I was experiencing at the time. (Side note: If you’re a TW member, you’ve seen my interviews with Dr. Ram this year, so you know who I’m talking about!)

Since I’ve gone back to school – and I’m so grateful that I’m able to do it virtually, from the comfort of my home – I’ve enjoyed the mental stimulation that comes with learning new things. While I’ve been self-studying Ayurveda for well over a decade, being under the guidance of teachers and mentors is making my brain explode with happiness.
So how’s this translated into the rest of my life? Oh my gosh, where to begin?! First of all, my mind has been epically expanding with all of the new info. Even though some of what we’re covering are concepts and formulas that I’ve already learned through the years, this science has newly restored my depth of self-care. I’m also learning an absolute *ton* of really in-depth material, from yoga philosophy to tissue nutrition to intense anatomy and physiology. I’m one happy student!
What are things that you’re passionate about? Maybe it’s a new hobby, a career change, or a calling that’s been pulling at your heartstrings for a while. Whatever it is, this is a great time to go for it! The things we want the most, we find ways to make them happen. Have you noticed that? So if you’re looking for a sign to pursue what lights you up, this is it, my friend.
